DIAGNOSED WITH GESTATIONAL DIABETES? YOU DON'T HAVE TO FIGURE IT OUT ALONE.

A gestational diabetes diagnosis usually comes with a meter, a list of foods to avoid, and a lot of questions. Trinity OB's OB nurses come to your home in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Monroe County to teach you how to check your sugar, what to eat, and what your numbers mean, and we stay with you through delivery.

Call 305-888-8902 (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to get started, or send us a patient intake form any time.

If you think you're having an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest labor and delivery unit. This page is not medical advice and does not replace your OB.

WHY IT MATTERS

Gestational diabetes is common and manageable, but unmanaged high blood sugar raises the chance of a very large baby, a difficult delivery, and low blood sugar for the baby after birth. Keeping your numbers in range protects both of you. Most women do this with food changes and monitoring. Some need insulin, and that's okay.

CALL YOUR OB OR CALL US IF

• Your sugar readings are above the targets your OB gave you for more than a day or two

• You're having trouble checking your sugar or using your meter

• You feel shaky, sweaty, or confused (possible low blood sugar)

• You're very thirsty, peeing a lot, or feel unusually tired

• You're not sure what to eat and your numbers are all over the place

GO TO LABOR AND DELIVERY OR CALL 911 NOW IF

• You have a blood sugar reading your OB told you is dangerously high or low and you can't bring it back

• You're vomiting and can't keep food or insulin down

• You feel the baby moving much less than usual

WHAT TRINITY OB DOES AT HOME

You'll get a toolkit with a glucose meter, dietary resources, and a portion-control plate, plus personalized education from an OB registered nurse who comes to you. We track your readings digitally and send reports to your OB so insulin or food plans can be adjusted without waiting for your next visit. You're assigned one dedicated Trinity nurse who stays with you throughout your time on service, and you get our 24/7 patient hotline, staffed by labor and delivery nurses, for questions between visits.

WHERE WE PROVIDE CARE

All of Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe County, including the Florida Keys.

WHAT IT COSTS

There is no out-of-pocket cost to you when you're covered by one of the plans listed for gestational diabetes on our Eligible Insurances page. We bill your insurance directly. Call us and we'll confirm your coverage.

HOW TO GET STARTED

Call 305-888-8902 or complete the patient intake form. Care starts once we receive signed orders from your OB. If your OB has already referred you, we'll reach out to you. If not, we'll tell you exactly what to ask for.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Will I have diabetes after the baby is born? For most women, blood sugar returns to normal after delivery. Your OB will recheck it in the weeks after birth, and having gestational diabetes does raise your risk of type 2 diabetes later, so follow-up matters.

Do I have to give up everything I like to eat? No. It's about portions, pairing carbohydrates with protein, and timing. Our nurse works with the foods you already cook.

What if my OB wants me on insulin? We teach you how to use it at home and track how your numbers respond, so your OB can adjust the dose quickly.
