CAN'T STOP THROWING UP DURING PREGNANCY? WE CAN HELP AT HOME.
If you're pregnant and vomiting several times a day, can't keep food or water down, or are losing weight, this is not ordinary morning sickness. When it goes beyond normal morning sickness, doctors call it hyperemesis gravidarum, and it's treatable. Trinity OB brings that treatment to your home in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe County.
Call us at 305-888-8902 (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), or send us a patient intake form any time and tell us what's going on in the notes. Our intake team will get back to you and walk you through getting care started with your OB's orders.
If you think you're having an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest labor and delivery unit. This page is not medical advice and does not replace your OB.
SIGNS THIS IS MORE THAN MORNING SICKNESS
• You're throwing up more than three or four times a day, or you can't stop
• You can't keep down water, juice, or even small sips
• You haven't peed in 8 hours or more, or your urine is very dark
• You've lost 5 pounds or more since your pregnancy began
• You feel dizzy, faint, or your heart races when you stand up
• Anti-nausea pills aren't helping, or you can't keep them down
Any one of these is a reason to call. You don't have to wait for your next appointment.
GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM OR LABOR AND DELIVERY NOW IF
• You're vomiting blood or something that looks like coffee grounds
• You have severe belly pain
• You're confused, extremely weak, or can't stay awake
• You've had no fluids stay down for 24 hours
WHAT TRINITY OB DOES AT HOME
Our labor and delivery nurses come to you. Working under your OB's orders, we start you on anti-nausea medication pump therapy at home. Once you're on the pump with us, your nurse can also give IV fluids for dehydration when your OB orders them. We don't provide IV hydration on its own; it's part of pump therapy for patients already on service. Along with that, you get daily check-ins, weight and symptom tracking, nutrition guidance that fits what you can actually keep down, and regular reports to your OB so your whole care team stays on the same page.
Once you're on service, you're assigned one dedicated Trinity nurse who stays with you the whole time. You won't have to re-explain your symptoms or meet someone new at every visit. You also get our 24/7 patient hotline, staffed by labor and delivery nurses, so you can reach your nurse whenever something comes up. Most patients avoid repeated trips to the ER because the care comes to them.
WHERE WE PROVIDE CARE
We serve all of Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe County, from Homestead to Deerfield Beach and throughout the Florida Keys.
WHAT IT COSTS
There is no out-of-pocket cost to you when you're covered by one of the plans listed for severe nausea and vomiting care on our Eligible Insurances page. We bill your insurance directly. Not sure if your plan is listed? Call us and our intake team will check for you.
HOW TO GET STARTED
Call 305-888-8902 or complete the patient intake form. Care starts once we receive signed orders from your OB. If your OB, ER, or urgent care has already referred you, we'll reach out to you directly. If not, we'll tell you exactly what to ask your OB for.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Do I need a referral from my doctor? Yes. We can only start care with signed orders from your OB. Ask your OB to send a referral to Trinity OB (they can use our online referral form or fax 305-888-8903). Once we receive the orders, we start coordinating your care right away. If you reach out to us first, we'll tell you exactly what to ask your OB for.
Is this the same as morning sickness? No. Morning sickness is unpleasant but you can still eat and drink. Severe nausea and vomiting means you can't keep enough down to stay hydrated and nourished, and it needs treatment.
Can I get IV fluids at home? Only as part of anti-nausea pump therapy. If you're on service with us on the pump and your OB orders hydration, your nurse gives IV fluids in your home. We don't offer IV hydration by itself.
What if it's the middle of the night? If you're already on service with us, call the 24/7 patient hotline you were given and your dedicated nurse will connect with you right away. If you're not a patient yet, send us a patient intake form with a note about what's going on and someone will get back to you, or go to labor and delivery if you can't wait.
